Very rare car in Scandal Green one of only 7 SVA models ever made, AKA the ‘Toxic Frog’. Lotus Elise Sport 160 is number 24 of 50 ‘full fat’ SVA models made. Out of the 50 SVA cars only 7 were painted in Scandal green.

First registered in 1999 with the number plate W783 CTW it was originally registered to Nelmes of Romford’s (Lotus main dealer) and used as their promotional car, featuring in advertising campaigns including magazine adverts etc. While in their possession it was leant to evo magazine for a two page review of the then new Sport 160, the final and most powerful iteration of the series 1 Elise. This was published in the May 2000 issue where it received a 5* rating.

Lotus then licensed the photos from evo to launch the Sport 160, this included magazine adverts, leaflets and the Sport 160 WVTA sales brochure showing a rear end shot on the cover and further photos inside. The back cover of the brochure also featured an extract from the review:

“Fire the 160 into life and immediately you know something special is going on behind your head”
Source: EVO

A little later in its life back in 2007 wearing the cherished plate D5 AJC it starred on the front cover of Classic Cars magazine and had a further 8 page review inside, this was published in February 2007.

Letters from Lotus and evo magazine to confirm it was the brochure car included as well as a copy of evo, classic car magazine, Lotus Sport 160 brochure, Nelmes advert magazine clippings and more.

Absolute joy to drive, our all time favourite Elise from the 100’s we have owned. So much so we have kept it 6 months and done a number of shows (see photos) before deciding to advertise. However it has to make way for a Audi 20v turbo powered Exige project that is nearing completion.

The whole car really is in stunning condition and must be seen a real head turner.

It really does have so much character, with fantastic provenance and history, will be sorry to see it go.
